Bata World News

Czech students in Otrokovice, near Zlin, the birthplace of Bata, temporarily converted their school’s sports area into a sand art masterpiece in June in honor of the company’s 120th anniversary. The sand artwork measured 44 by 36 meters, earning it a place in a national book of records. Local artist Jiří Holub guided the 57 students, all 12 to 14 years old, in their undertaking. It took the team six hours to complete the project, which used 11 cubic meters of sand in six colors. The figures they depicted were as much as 5.8 meters tall. The Bata Foundation co-hosted the event with Bata Czech Republic. “We are glad to support a strong positive perception of the Bata brand and Bata heritage by our youngest generation. This is a key factor of our success and great potential for our future growth,” said Lukas Ohanka, marketing manager. The sand is being reused at a local playground by children who can now make mud pies and sand sculptures.
